How to do it - from registration to certificate

Before registration

  • Choose the exam you wish to register for - consider your choice carefully.
  • Find out when the registration period is - usually two months before the exam date.
  • Select the location where you would like to take the exam from the menu (not all centres may be available).
  • Be sure to pay careful attention to the exam dates before you decide to register.
  • Most exams take place over two days. The dates published are for the written part of the exam and cannot be changed. The oral part of the exam takes place within a set time period and the date will be given to you at a later date.

During registration

  • Fill out the ONLINE registration form - pay attention to when the regular registration period ends, after that you must pay the late registration surcharge.
  • Read Terms and Conditions carefully.
  • Find out what your options are for paying the exam fee and pay attention to paying it on time. Registration is not complete before the fee is paid.
  • Successful registration will take place if the application is submitted on time and the exam fee is paid in the same manner.

Before the exam

  • Check that you have received your registration confirmation on time. If you do not receive it, please inform us immediately. Unfortunately, it may happen that you have not been properly registered due to a problem in your internet communication.
  • Make sure you receive your exam timetable by the specified date (2 weeks before the exam date). If this does not happen, it is your responsibility to notify us immediately.
  • If you are taking the exam outside your home area, we recommend that you find out in advance the exact location of the exam venue, and how to get there.

At the exam

  • Arrive on time (30 minutes before the exam starts). Unfortunately, arriving late may mean that you will not be allowed to take the exam.
  • Mandatory photography for Cambridge exams. On the day of the exam (written or oral), candidates taking the Cambridge exam will be photographed.Photography on the day is a University of Cambridge regulation to enhance the security and integrity of Cambridge exams and to verify their results. Photography is only compulsory for B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE) and C2 Proficiency (CPE) exams. It does not apply to exams marked "for Schools" By registering for an exam, the candidate agrees to this process.
  • Be sure to bring proof of identification (ID or passport).
  • Further information here.

After the exam

  • Please carefully file a letter with information about your online results and certificates.
  • The results of exams taken paper-based are available in 4 to 6 weeks after the exam is taken.
  • Candidates have direct access to their results via the Cambridge English online service. Login details are provided in the invitation to sit the exam (Confirmation of Entry). All exam participants are also notified when their results are published.
  • If you pass the exam, your certificate will be sent to the relevant exam centre approximately two months after the result is published. You will also receive an email informing you when your certificate is ready for collection. If you are unable to collect your certificate in person, you can authorise another person to do so - power of attorney.
  • Certificates are not sent by post.
